On November 8, McBrayer attorney Jack Wheat will speak in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's seminar entitled "Spirits and Intellectual Property: Bourbon" in Louisville, Kentucky.

Member Jack Wheat has received a spotlight feature in Louisville Business First following his recent appearance on the History Channel's The Toys That Built America. Mr. Wheat was interviewed for an episode about the Cabbage Patch Kids due to his role in an intellectual property suit involving the toys. 

McBrayer Member Jack Wheat is quoted in the September issue of The Lane Report in a piece about the new rule allowing college athletes to earn money from name, image, and likeness deals. 

McBrayer Member Jack Wheat was part of a group of experienced intellectual property attorneys who filed a brief with the Supreme Court of the United States this week. Mr. Wheat and the other trademark experts encouraged the Court to review a ruling from the Second Court regarding dental products produced by a Swiss company. The Second Court had ruled that the "candy-colored" tips of the dental tools were not protected by trademark law; Mr. Wheat and others are urging the Supreme Court to review this decision and establish a "clear national standard" on functionality.

McBrayer Member Jack Wheat was quoted in the cover story for the September issue of The Lane Report, which discussed the potential impacts of Governor Beshear's June executive order that allows college athletes to benefit from the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) and how Kentucky attorneys and firms are responding to this development.
